Pastor Smith was born in Biloxi, MS on Keesler AFB. He and his family moved frequently because his father was active-duty Air Force. He attended high school in Tifton, GA and joined the Air Force at age 17. He worked Aircraft Communication and Navigation Systems on F4 Fighters and C-130 cargo planes, then retrained into Military Equal Opportunity where he investigated discrimination complaints. During his Air Force career, Pastor Smith earned Associate degrees in Avionic Communications and Social Services. He also earned certification as an Academic Instructor. Pastor Smith retired from the Air Force in 2001 with 20 years’ active- duty service. He transferred his Air Force college credits to Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and earned his Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies in 2004. In June of 2004, he was ordained and began pastoral ministry in Siler City, NC. He went back to Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and completed his Master’s degree in Christian Studies in 2012. He studied at Grand Canyon University for two years, then transferred to Nashville Bible College where he completed his Doctorate of Theology in 2018. Pastor Smith is the author of The Revelation in Plain English and was a frequent guest panelist on the Ask the Pastor TV show, TCT Network. Pastor Smith and his wife Teresa began serving First Southern Baptist Church of Warren in February 2021.
Russell was born and raised in Bisbee. He graduated from Bisbee High School in 1972. He played trumpet in the Bisbee High School Band during his Freshman and Sophomore years. Russell was born and raised in Bisbee. He graduated from Bisbee High School in 1972. He played trumpet in the Bisbee High School Band during his Freshman and Sophomore years. He taught himself to play the guitar when he was 14 and to play the harmonica when he was 18. Ida, his Mom, taught him piano lessons for a while as a child. He now plays some piano by ear. Russell attended Emmanuel Baptist Church in Bisbee as a child and teenager. He was active in the youth group and played guitar for many youth gatherings and for church worship service.
Russell attended Cochise College his freshman year and then transferred to Grand Canyon College. He graduated from Grand Canyon University in the spring of 1978 with a degree in Religion and Environmental Science. Russell was youth director at several churches in Phoenix, Mesa, and Parker Arizona. Again, he played his guitar for many sing-a-longs and church worship services. Russell sang Bass in several church choirs in Phoenix. He was employed by the City Of Glendale for 26 years and retired to Bisbee in 2009.
